imho, Judaism embraces both views:
Halachah is intrinsically reductionist and relates to a splitting mentality identified as Binah.
Kabbalah is intrinsically unificationist and relates to a lumping (as you put it) or rather an undifferentiated mentality identified as Chochmah.

Aggadic midrash is tied to Chochmah-thinking and so tends towards lumping and multiple opinions.

To my limited understanding the concept of Paradox can't exist in a Chochmah mindset. One thing being true doesn't preclude the opposite from also being true.
