Chaim Gershon

That there were times that the Menorah remained lit for more than eight days is commonly cited in Chassidishe sefarim. Especially Divrei Yoel Channukah (Satmar) and Sefas Emes who quote the above Midrash Tanchuma repeatedly as well as Yoma 39a abotu Shimon HaTZaddik's menorah concluding that with the latter, the holy unadulterated observance lead to daily miracles even with the Menorah.
This theme is also in Yaaros Dvash (new edition volume 2, p.174) about the Menorah remaining lit until the days of Achaz in the first Temple. Above arguments in Torah Shelema applied, even Rabbenu Bachaye in Kad HaKemach states it was so.
The victory over Greek influence albeit temporary lead to a temporary reoccurence of the miracle of the Menorah which was commonplace during better earlier days in Jewish History ending just before with Shimon HaTZaddik who was above Alexander as opposed to after when the Jews were at a lower level and did not merit miracles.
