Recession is impacting on Torah study, from Haaretz

Comment: It has often been argued that the solution to poverty among kollel students is part-time work. However, that is not the case according to this report. Part-time jobs are the first ones to suffer in difficult economic times, they usually do not pay well, and come with no benefits. Perhaps with the massive expansion of socail welfare programs under the Obama's stimulus bill, full-time learning is about to become once again a better financial option than part-time work.
